Noise Pollution 1

Hi All,

For the last 6 months i've been working in a manufacturing assembly department as a technician and during this time i have observed that the noise level in the shop floor is quite high. I have spoke to the manager about this problem but he told me to do a report and convince him that the noise level is really high and if it is i have to list the solution how this noise pollution can be reduced. Does anyone had any similar situation ? maybe do you know any good reference where should i look to do this ? i did my research already and all i found is for home and apartments. Since the environment is completely different than an assembly shop floor full of noisy machines i cant base the same procedures.
I would be really grateful if someone can help me and guide me through this problem.

Where are you, what are local codes and bylas for noise protection?

First, to convince your boss you need to take measurements. I think there are free smartphone apps that can give you an indication, before you take the expense to rent proper equipment or hire an expert.

Depending on local laws, once you shown a certain noise treshold your boss is (or at least should be) obliged to protect the workers on the machine floor from the noise.
What can he or you do?
- Identify sources
- move sources into rooms where no one is working normally, make sure this room is reasonably noise proof
- See if you can dampen specific noise sources. Maybe you are hearing vibration noises that can be avoided. Noise protection can involve dampening shells over equipment or vibration decoupling from moving parts.
- Have everyone wear hearing protection

Thios could greatly be expanded on - I'm not in noise control or similiar field, this is just what I remember from university. So I can't give you good sources on the subject.

I've never been in your situation, so I don't know how best to manage your manager about this issue.

Thanks MartinLe for your info. Well the majority of the noise is coming from the pneumatic equipment. For sure i can say that there are some leakages around. All the equipment is equipped with air silencers to reduce the amount of noise as much as possible however, still the noise level is 88dB as an average. I have also noticed that the vibrating bowl feeders are causing this high level of noise. All bowl feeders have a noise reduction case to damp the noise. Are there any other solution how to reduce noise from these bowl feeders ? Generally, anyone knows how can i reduce the noise level on the shopfloor ? Thanks in advance.
