Hello everybody,

I have to select a few plastic material to be applied in an alimentary used machine. The FDA certification is not needed for the element that are not in contact with the food. But in any case I have no database to check if a material is suitable for alimentary use. Are this information available on the web?

Thanks in advance

Here's two plastic that I can recommed they are both FDA approved:

PETG Copolyester this is a tough thermoplastic with high impact strength and very good optical clarity, it also has very good chemical resistance

Tensile Strength 53MPa
Young's modulus 2100N/mm2

Acetal Copolymer(POM)

Tensile Strength 65 MPa
Young's modulus 3100N/mm2

A high strength and rigidity offering good sliding properties, resistant to dilute acids etc.

I obtained this info. from RS's engineering material section, you could try contacting your plastic supplier or contacting RS here's there web address rs
Regards
