Where is it on Caesar????????

Suppose you have an input as a Word file, and you want to make a few changes, and save it as a separate file, or put that new file in a different folder. It is easy to do.

How to easily do the same thing with CII, ver 5 (patched)?

Why doesn't Caesar have a simple "Save As" coommand that allows you to save an input with a changed file name?

shopper1732,

Caesar II does indeed have a "Save as" command, even in the new Ver. 5.0

When your input spread sheet is open, go up to the "File" tab in the upper left hand corner and click on it. About 4 down on the list of the drop-down menu you will find "Save as" just like all of the other Windows programs .... and in the same place.

Now how hard did you look for it?

Nozzle Twister:
When my "Classic Piping Input" sheet is open, as installed right out of the Caesar 'box', there is NO File pull down tab as you describe.

Also, all toolbars are open.

There is one cluster that includes OPEN, SAVE, COPY, CUT, PASTE and PRINT and one would expect to fine a SAVE AS option there, but none exists.

Since sending the posting to Eng-Tips, I have found an OPTIONAL Save as that can be dragged to a toolbar, and have done so. I will see if it works. Strangly, it is not the familiar Windows icon, but a worded/script click on which reads "Save AS"

FYI, I did look and several of my co-workers attemped to find the thing you describe.

Look! On the main Caesar display that comes up when you boot the program, there is a file pull down as you describe. But there is no 'Save As' there, as anyone who has been using Windows, for years, would expect.

And, why should anyone be required to add such a familiar command from a list of 'Options'?

However, it

My appologies...

This is a built-in menu that I don't think can be turned off or on. I would guess that it's some kind of set up problem.

For better response, post your problem on Coade's Caesar Forum:
Or e-mail their Tech Support: techsupport@coade.com

Be sure to provide what Windows version you are using and what Caesar version including the build date you have.

Good luck and be sure to come back and post the solution to this problem you have in case others are exeriencing it.

"Save As" is an option on the "File" menu of the Piping Input processor, as shown in this image:

I'm not really sure how this could be fouled up. You can try deleting the CAESAR II key in the registry to see if that clears up the problem. Go to hkey_current_user\software\coade, inc.\ and delete the entire CAESAR II key. (The software will rebuild this key, so this is a safe operation, as long as you don't delete anything else.)
