Notch Repair on Roof Rafters

Have existing roof rafters that are notched at an interior knee walls about 6 feet from the base of the rafters. The architect wants to move those knee walls "outward" to 4 feet from the base. Any recommendations on notch repair? Any design/detail references?

I'm considering plywood on one or each side, but I'm not sure what to use for design values. Maybe another material would be better. I'm also considering a strap along the bottom of the rafter to help with bending.

Thanks.

Moving the wall places the notch in bending (both compresion and tension). Consider scabing lumber ~4' long, same sized as the rafter on each side.

strap the underside with well nailed or screwed sheats of plywood which in effect turns each member into a structural beam

Whatever you do will look like a hack job. Why would an architect or builder want to foist such a thing on an owner and why would an owner accept such garbage? Replacing the lumber is the only ethical thing to do. I would not try to cover up or patch rafters that are now inadequate because the architect changed his/her mind or goofed. Perhaps I'm being harsh....especially not knowing the real situation.
