We are currently using MS21061L3 and MS21059L3 nutplates on our assemblies for ease of installation but my boss would like us to use nutplates with a changeable floating retaining nut. He suggested using NAS1791, NAS1792 or NAS1793. I have been searching for the better part of 2 days and can't find the proper NAS sub for either MS21059L3 or MS21061L3. Can someone here help me with this?

I think NAS686 and NAS687 are the superseding specs for MS21059 and MS21061. The nut inserts on the plates of NAS686+7 aren't replaceable, though.
If NAS1791-3 are suitable for your application, well, why not?

The search for mil-spec replacements can be easier at
They list the replacement for MS21061 is NASM21061; MS21059 is replaced by NASM21059.

The NAS series were superseded by the MS series nut plates.

There is more information on MS NAS cross overs in thread2-112819
