Hello, I have recently transitioned to a new organization, and have gotten us NX! I need some help in the setup department. I have used NX in the past with Teamcenter for 10 years, but never had to do any of the setup "template" stuff. I have begun customizing the Drafting standard to ASME with some minor text and arrow size changes, however, within the sketcher, none of those seem to be picking up from customer defaults. Also in the menus, I am only loading from preferences, and not customer defaults, which I would like the seed file to load from customer defaults every time. Are there posts/threads to customizing NX for initial deployment out there? Also, it seems to be graying out background color preference when I switch it to not graduated (I just want black each time). Thanks Toost, is the Admin thing something that you can teach me? thread561-432011

Hi
As per my knowledge 'Seed file' settings will override 'Customer defaults'. Once the drawing file is created by using seed file , customer defaults will override by seed file settings. In my opinion you need to open seed file and change the preferences like back ground colour, Arrows, text and GD&T etc.. and save the seed file. So that from next time on wards no need to change the preferences. Just to be on safe side creating a new template(seed file )with required settings will be safe instead of disturbing original seed file.

Ram K, thanks for the direction. Any idea where the setting is that once creating a model tells nx to create a datum coordinate system on layer 61?

That would be controlled by your template file. If you have write access to your template file, you can open it and add/remove features as needed. These features would then be available to any new parts based on the template.
