Hi,
I am new to NX and I am trying to cut 6 slots on a diameter using a 4 axis lathe and a woodruff cutter, the slots have the radius of the cutter at the end of the slot.
the intention is to bring the woodruff cutter in Vertically and rough and finish the slot Horizontally from the front face to a depth of 20mm, the problem is I am not sure what method to use, Contour Profile? etc.
I hope this is enough information for someone to help me.

What version of NX are you running?

Can you post a file or image of what your trying to do?

NX6, I will try to get a similar sketch on here, there are 6 slots on a 100mm turned diameter, the slots are horizontal and the woodruff cutter is vertical, the woodruff is 4mm wide and 30mm in diameter, the slots are 4mm deep, 6mm wide(3mm below and above centerline), and 20mm long coming away from the 100mm diameter with a 30mm radius, the machine is a Mazak Integrex 50 Y which has 4 axis, thanks for answering I will draw up a similar part.

Try variable contour,
point/curve method,
projection should be toward line (to part rotation axis)
tool axis away from line (the same line)
