Hi All,
Is it possible to export a face created using the "Face from Mesh" command as some kind of geometry file? I am using NX 7.5.

Thanks!

Where is this function found in NX? Are you talking about an FEA mesh or something else?

I read the question, then copied "Face from Mesh" into the NX command finder, -and realized i didn't have a clue...
"Creates a polygon face on selected elements. This command is available in the Advanced Simulation Application."
I doubt that we can export it, but i would be happy if we could use it for reverse engineering...

John,
I have a FEM in Advanced Simulation. I want to create geometry from this FEM and be able to export it. I am able to create a Polygon Face using the "Face from Mesh" command in Advanced Simulation (it's located in the same drop down icon as "Auto Heal Geometry". However, it will not allow me to export a Polygon Face as a parasolid from the FEM.

Thanks,
Ben

Do an info on the created 'face' and see what it says that it is. If it's any sort of geometric object, such as planar surface, B-Surface, etc., you should be able to at least go to...

File -> Export -> Part...

...select the 'face' and create another NX part file with just this geometry in it.

The problem is that it is in the FEM and there is no option to export to a part. The only geometry export option that is available inside the FEM file is Parasolid. When I do an info on the surface it says its a "Polygon Body".
