Hello All,

I have a question about Parts List templates. Our parts list has each row as being a set size of .560 inches. Every time I use a template that i created, the row heights always come in small because it seems to default to a row size to AUTO Fit text. I have turned this off in my template file and I have shut this off in my customer default files. Can someone tell me how to fix a row to always be a set height of .560 ?

Thanks in advance,

Richard Andrew

The attached video shows how to get it to work.
You need to set the row height in the customer defaults and then make sure that the default is set to use the standard, not the template parts for drafting standards.
You also need to make sure that the auto sizing for rows is turned off.
In the video, I do that for both the template part and in the defaults.
You will also see I added some dummy text in the template to show that it's the right template part that I am using.

I also set the parts list to have the header at the top and to grow downwards at the same time.

Hello Anthony,

Thanks for the video. Showed me some settings in locations that I was unaware of. Setting the option for Row Height works well with the default parts list (INSERT - TABLE - PARTS LIST). It does not work well with a custom parts list. I have attached a copy of a parts list template that I have been trying to use. I did all of the settings shown in the video, I changed the parts list templates, drawing templates with these settings, I even changes the top level assembly file with these settings. The attached parts list still reverts to AUTO FIT TEXT for the height. Any insights would be appreciated. My next satep is to create this parts list from scratch again with these new settings.

Thanks,

Richard Andrew

From what I can tell in my testing it, the row height for a parts list can't be changed after it's been created.
I think what you need to do, is specify the row height in the defaults as you have done.
Then create your new parts list by making it using the default one.
There are the ones in UGII\table_files but these are already created so can't be changed.
By clicking on the parts list icon in drafting (assuming you haven't specified the customer default for the default parts list) it will create a new, non pre-existing, parts list.
Use that as your basis and you should be able to get what you want.

Again Anthony Thanks for the help. It is faster for me to just adjust the row height using the custom parts list. I really cannot understand why it still defaults to auto row height even though my parts list template, my drawing template, and the rest of the customer defaults have this option turned off. I will keep digging.

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks to all who helped with this question. After a little more digging, I got it to work. Here is what I ended up doing.

1. Made sure all of the settings were set for Row Height and Fit Methods.
2. Added a Default Parts List to a drawing.
3. Modified the Parts List to meet our formating requirements.
4. Saved the modified Parts List as a template.
5. Added the template to an existing assembly. All works well.

Thanks again for everyones input.

Richard
