Greetings,

In NX8, when you click and hold down the RM3 and move in any direction a array of functions show up around the cursor. This quick drag+direction menu popup is great, however I can't seem to find a way to customize these buttons.

Is this at all possible? I ask because i'm new to NX and this feature was also available in solidworks that allowed them to be customized.

Thanks,

Kev

And the ability to edit the other MB3 pop-up menus, beyond just the 3 sets of Radial pop-ups as discussed in the link Ryan provided, is being enhanced with the next release, NX 8.5, later this year.

Hi there,

Does someone know if this has actually been enhanced in NX8.5?
I am running NX8.5 and I still see only Radial 1, 2 ,3 and a View Radial customizable under "Customize > Toolbars".

I need to customize the "context sensitive" versions of these menus : Specifically the radial that appears when you hold RMB over a sketch entity inside sketcher environment.
There use to be two options I used a lot: LeftUp the "Add Dimension" and Up the "Add Geometric Constraint" until NX8.0. Well someone decided to remove the UP option in NX8.5 and it's now blank (Whyyyyy.....?)
I need to re edit it back to how it was...

Best to all.
Julian

If you could do it, I would imagine it would be in the Documentation or What's New Guide included with NX8.5. I don't recall seeing it in the online version of the What's New Guide.

You can NOT edit the MB3 pop-up menu, even in NX 8.5, and that never was the plan. However, starting with NX 8.5 you don't actually have to press MB3, just select an object and a new 'Shortcut Toolbar' will be displayed which will provide you with most of the options that you can still get on the pop-menu if you HAD pressed MB3. Now the content of the THAT 'Shortcut Toolbar' can be edited.

You do this by going into Customize and you will find a new tab on Customize dialog labeled 'Shortcut Toolbar' and when selected you will have an option for ADDing items to three defaults Shortcut Toolbars, however if you select an object on the screen, such as a curve or a solid/sheet body or an Assembly Component, now you will see the specific Shortcut Toolbar for that particular object type and then you will be able to add/remove items to that Shortcut Toolbar. Once these changes are made, like any other modification to the User Interface, they will be saved in the 'user.mtx' and in any customized Roles which sre saved after making these changes.

And yes, these issues are covered in the 'What's New in NX 8.5' document in the 'Fundamentals' section.

When I tested 8.5, I wrote down that the radial toolbars were customisable, and were on a new separate tab in the customise dialogue (not in the old tick list).

Haven't got it at the moment to confirm this however, but it might be worth having a look for another tab?

You are basically correct in what you say you saw.

Hi all, thanks.

I was aware of the new "Shortcut Toolbar" but I am reluctant to acknowledge that the radial popups are... indeed... in the process of being deprecated (I had heard that they had not be that successful...)
I thought the NX development team had somehow accidentally left the "Add Constraint" tool out of the radial on this release, but now it would seem that they intentionally remove it to see how the new functionality gets received...
(Otherwise why would they remove it...!)

Personally, I found the flicking movement of the radial menus very intuitive and lighting fast.
I guess it will require getting used to these new toolbars but IMHO this might be a click less but it's not a step forward in productivity...

I guess wait and see!

Regards and thanks again!!

NO WHERE has anyone ever said that the radial pop-ups were going away. In fact, for NX 8.5 they've been enhanced as they can now be customized (adding/removing icons).

And exactly what do you mean by your comment about 'Add Constraint' being "accidentally left out"? And WHAT sort of 'Constraints' are we talking about here?
