Hey there,

I have a short question regarding a drilling operation in NX CAM.
It's a simple spot drilling operation, nothing fancy. But in the simulation, the drill turns red for a moment which is a little irritating.
This happens once when the drill has almost finished the hole, and again when it's fully retracted.

I have turned on the collision verification but there seems to be no collision. Any idea what causes this behaviour?

Thanks a lot!

This happens when tool gouges part or check surfaces or solid. In simulation you won't get check surface

The red generally indicates a gouge or collision.

This could be a case where the programmer intentionally violates the part. For example, tapping a hole where the tap drill diameter is modeled; or chamfering an edge modeled sharp, or a drill tip going past the bottom of a hole modeled with a flat bottom.

In recent releases, we do not identify these "intentional" penetrations as gouges, but if you are running an older version of NX, you could see the tool turn red.

Note also that a collision is flagged when the tool or holder is rapiding within the minimum clearance distance of the part.

An intentional violation of the part it is. Thank you for confirming my suspicion [thumbsup2]
