I am trying to import a large STP file. Every time i get the same outcome.

The file is a weld study from our manufacturing team that contains the weldment and its components as well as the weld torch in several locations.

NX does create a lot of components parts from the step file but fails part way thru giving a warning on one of the components
Code:
! WARNING- No parts in current input file
Is this what's crashing NX and if so, is there a way to fix this?

to be clear there is no error popup or NX has stopped working message. it is just NX is importing step file and then NX is gone.

Problem solved!

My coworker at another location has access to the step license for Catia and that read it in with no issue.

Maybe next time try the translator external to NX to see if anything improves.
To Get there in WINDOWS:
START -> ALL PROGRAMS -> SIEMENS NX -> TRANSLATOR - STEPAP214 -> IMPORT

When posting questions ,
please include the NX version and a full description on when, where, how, what and possibly why...

The error message does not tell us anything but that the step file doesn't contain any parts.

Tomas

I've had that happen on occasion. how are you importing the step?

Drag and drop the step file into the Welcome tab, File import Step, file open Step, or the external step interface?

If it opens in Catia then nothing is wrong with the file. if one method fails try another, it'll eventually open.

Unless you're using a really old version of NX with the Nvidia driver bug...
