NX Drafting Tabular Note - Connected to Spreadsheet

I'm using NX 12.0.2.9
Windows 10 Pro (Build 18362)

Tabular notes in drafting are unusable. It takes several minutes to make even the slightest formatting change (column width, row height, cell alignment, Ctrl-T move)

No matter what change I make to the table, NX always takes a few minutes to update the drawing.

NX goes through the following steps:

[li]Connected to Spread sheet (Excel opens in the background)[/li]
[li]Excel works for several minutes in background[/li]
[li]Spread sheet exit detected[/li]
[li]NX resumes normal operation[/li]
[/ol]

Sometimes Excel gets stuck with a "Save Changes..." prompt for the temporary file NX creates in the background. NX will not resume until I've switched to Excel and clicked "Don't Save."

I know this isn't normal NX operation. NX 11 didn't do this on my old system. It would only do this if actual data changes were made to the table contents.

I've tried to resolve this by disabling 'Automatic Updates' in Drafting preferences and in the tables themselves. I cannot fix this issue.

Google does not turn up anything helpful.

Any ideas?

Most of the changes you mentioned can be done in NX without triggering Excel. Right click on the tabular note and choose "edit without spreadsheet".

Still, NX and Excel should work faster for these edits. Is the version of Excel you are using certified for use with NX 12?

I haven't any ideas, only informations:

NX and Excel work that same way from NX5.
For each change NX must opene and close Excel. That same is when You open NX file with table editing with Excel (for each cell NX open and close Excel).
I know it's stupid but in Excel I can do many operation, which in NX are more difficult (at least they were a few years ago).

But until NX12 time is several time longer. Especially if it opens files saved in earlier versions.
I work with Excel certified for use with NX12 (Excel 2016) and its not work faster.

One proposition: uncheck Automatic update in setings of table.
After that You must only remeber about update.

If somebody have information how to fix it - I'm very interested.
