NX Drawing Attributes

Hi Everyone,

I'm using NX 12 and I face some issue with attributes ;
1st thing : I created a custom template model and a custom template drawing and I assigned attributed for each, the problem that when I create the drawing before assign a material to the model the drawing doesn't read the attribute and material cell in title block doesn't make the update to show the assigned material. Is there any way to solve this ?

2nd thing : that I'm using the template drawing for parts & assembly and I'd make an attribute for mass in title block ; if it's a part it show its mass (It works) and if it's an assembly it show the sum of the mass of parts in the assembly, is it possible ?

last point that if I'm going to make a drawing for assembly I'd that Material cell shows a string like "Composite" or "Various" ... .

Hi Khaledtr,
I can not answer the 1st Thing, But I recommend you create the attribute and its values in every new model with the journal, not by editing the attributes from the existing template model. It means you just let the model template without any additional attributes.

Another checkpoint is just to make some attributes in the Modeling session in the Drawing Template part, then try to fetch them in your title block. If the attributes can be read by your title block, It means there is no problem with the drawing's template.

For the 2nd Thing: I myself still facing how to collect the total mass of sub assy with attribute.

1) What happens if you save-close-open the files?
does it update? If yes, this is an update issue. We have had that in NX12 on some attributes. - they did not sync / update until we saved the file.
2) I doubt this is possible in NX12.
should be possible in later versions where there is an attribute for assembly mass.
3) You would need a program to , when you encounter more materials than one set the attribute value "Various".
The parts list will, in case the column is not ( note: "not") a "key field" display [...] when encountering multiple values on a given attribute.

Do you have the "Attribute Templates" configured?
Wen it is configured every new file comes with the attributes with empty value so the drawing will works.

here is how to get the part number of the part in the drawing:

first(splitstring(ug_askCurrentWorkPart();"_"))

this assumes you have an underscore underneath it in the name and removes everything after.
