Hello guys, I am trying to install NX I-deas 6.5 in windows 8.1 (32 bit) and get it working.
Installation went fine, no problems at all. Services are running fine with no problem, but..

when I start I-deas I get this problem:
DMh7gqx.png

Operating system access denied on the current working directory.
Modify the access privileges and retry the operation.

My account is local administrator, what can I do to get it running?
What's the path of I-deas current working directory? I don't get it..

I will appreciate your efforts guys!

Have you tried calling GTAC at Siemens PLM?

I don't think they officially support newer Windows versions. I think this is a operating system issue or something related to privileges.

Perhaps, but that being said, the GTAC group at Siemens PLM would still be the best place to get help. BTW, if you select the Siemens PLM link in my signature, you'll be able to find how to contact customer support, AKA GTAC.

I will try but what's the path of 'current working directory'?

That's the sort of thing that GTAC should be able to help you with.

Try to start with right click -> Run as Administrator.
I also had admin account, but must start it like this?

To prevent 'access denied' and/or having to 'run as administrator' in Windows, you need to change the directory that I-DEAS will start from. Please try the following:

1. Using Windows File Explorer, make a directory that you have full access to (e.g. read/write access). Perhaps "C:\ideas\scratch", but make it reasonably short.

2. Go to the 'Start menu' and hover your mouse over the icon that you are using to start I-DEAS;

2. Click right mouse button over this icon, Select 'More', then 'Open file location' - Windows File Explorer will now open*;

3. Select the 'NX I-deas' executable, right click and select properties;

4. Then populate the "Start in:" block to be the directory that you made in item 1; and then

5. Press OK.

Now try to start I-DEAS again. Hopefully that should do it!

*this line is true for Windows 10, I couldn't test other versions.
