Hello,

I am using NX8.5 and I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts, after changing company I tried to customize my shortcut for example ctrl+shift+w to open "more" option in the window menu, but it keeps being reset.

I cant seem to understand what trigger the reset but some times i can work a whole week without the shortcut being deleted, and sometimes only a day...
The shortcuts are resetting, for example, in the default the letter a start an Arc and i change it to toggling assembly application on/off, after a reset, it returns to the Arc option.

please help me understand why.

thanks,
Mor

Are you saving your changes in a Role? If not, whenever you change to one of the provided Roles, it will remove any customization that you've set-up previous to that.

When I Come to think of it,I don't change the roll but it keeps reseting too...
All my toolbars and costumization are resetting as well...

Does logging on and off of NX reset your customization? If so, then your 'user.mtx' file is not being updated when you exit NX.

BTW, creating a 'Role' simply copies the current contents of the 'user.mtx' to it's own separate file that you can invoke at will, while the 'user.mtx' file is saved upon exiting NX and reread when you start a new session. When you select a 'Role', user-defined or one of the predefined ones, this will replace the contents of the 'user.mtx' with the contents of the 'Role' file and will stay that way until you either perform some sort of UI customization or you invoke a different 'Role'. And if you do perform some sort of customization and you wish to NOT lose it in the future, you really need to create/update your own 'Role' so as to capture everything so that you can go back to it at some later date if something messes up your UI changes, or you wish to throw away changes that you might have only wanted to be temporary.

If exiting and restarting NX resets your customizations, be sure the "save layout at exit" option is turned on (Preferences -> user interface -> layout (tab) -> save layout at exit). Then, when you are done with NX, make sure you exit NX before shutting your computer down.

The 'Save Layout at Exist' option has NO effect on changes to the UI such as which icons are enabled or not or whether newly defined shortcuts are still available. It only saves the settings that control thing like the size of the NX window and its position on the screen if the NX window is not maximized.

I was expanding on the above comment. If the 'user.mtx' file is not updated when you exit NX, it may be because the 'save layout at exit' option is turned off. I don't know what affect this has on keyboard shortcuts (if any), but it will affect UI customizations (which toolbars are turned on and where they are located, buttons added during the session, etc).

Thank you guys,
I still don't know what was the reason, I saved the ROLE and toggled on the "save layout on exit".
Hopefully I will not need any more help on this subject...
