Hello!

I'm trying to borrow the license from our corporate server (the license has the borrow option), but it seems not work a proper way:
I did the following steps:
1. While connected to the corporate lic server via LAN I have selected the needed license and bundles in NX Licensing Tools and borrowed the license;
2. Staying connected to the LAN I ran NX and wait until it fully loaded;
3. Then I disconnected the LAN wire from my laptop and close NX;
4. I ran NX once again while disconnected from LAN with no success - NX still tries to connect to the corporate server, despite the fact the needed license is borrowed in NX Licensing tool;
To my shame I didn't find any clear explanation of how the borrowing mechanism works, I did all steps as it explained in NX Licensing User Guide.
Any help will be appreciated!

The procedure , which works at out site is :
1) open the windows start - Siemens NX10.0 - NX licensing tools - licensing tool.
2) click the line Borrowing settings, the right side opens up
3) there is a small icon in the top to the right, "Borrow..." - click that.
4) a popup dialog appears, toggle say "p1" ( P1 is a bundle we have)
When P1 has been selected, i can set a return date and time in the small popup window.
( NOTE: it CAN BE DIFFICULT to do "early returns" of borrowed licenses, so set a short time when testing !
set TODAY and 10-15 minutes borrow time!)
5) OK the Popup window ( where the P1 was selected.)
6) the main licensing window is now displayed. NOW TICK (!) the line where it says "P1 2016-12-13 17:17:23
Then press the APPLY.

That's it. when the small window which notes something about "setting license xxx" has disappeared. you can disconnect from the network and try start NX.

The procedure above will not use a running session at all. You do not need to have NX running during the above.

There is/ should be/ have been (?) a different procedure where one used the licenses in NX that one should borrow.
I do not know if that option is still there or not.

When you have borrowed a license, and if you have some access to your license server. ( no need for admin rights) but you need to know the name of the license server.
Open a NX command prompt
cd to the "C:\NX10\ugflexlm"
type:
lmutil lmstat -c 28000@licenseservername -a
(if you are curious on the options , type lmutil lmstat -h and it will give short help)
IF you , in this mass of text find the text "linger" it means this license is borrowed .
The number thereafter is the remaining borrowing time in seconds.

Regards,
Tomas
