Hello all.

NX12
When I activate sketch in Drafting view and want to Project Curve from generated model view, Associative option is greyed out and I cant activate it.
Does anyone know why is it disabled and how to activate associativity?

What I do is Project the curve before I do the sketch, so naturally it will show before it in the model tree.
Verify that ASSOCIATIVE IS toggled ON in the Project Curve menu, or it won't show in the model tree.
Then you can dimension to the curve(s) when you do your sketch separately from the projected cures.

Thanks. I know I can do it in the modeling but in drafting this feature should also work. I used it very often before with older NX. Now from NX12 it doesn't work I can't figure why.

Can you explain when and why you want this ?
I think i never have used this option.

Tomas

I got info that Siemens deliberately disabled this option from NX12 and it cannot be turned on. They will consider bringing it back in newer version since many people complained.
I used this often when I want to sketch something in drafting view.
For example I draw a box that represents certain zones on the model and it was convenient to use model lines to constrain this box lines, etc.

In NX 12, model edges are automatically extracted to the drafting views, this means you probably do not need this project curve to do what you want.
In older releases , one needed to toggle on the extracted edges option ( per view) to be able to snap to the model edges in the drafting views, or you could project the edges to get associativity and "snap-ability".

The extracted edges also means you can load the drawing file without loading the model to add annotation, sketches, viewing, plot, export etc.

Tomas

This is true but when they disabled this Associativity feature, at the same time Geometrical tolerances between sketch and model lines are not working also. This is actually main problem because I can't constrain sketch lines projected points to use point on line Geometrical constraint.

Can you upload a small screenshot/ illustration ?
I do not understand this fully.

Tomas

If you have projected point from 3D and in drawing view you create sketch with line. You cannot use this point to constrain line to it with point on curve:

Although you can contraint line with dimension and just enter value 0. It's stupid.
