Customer Defaults has three levels. SITE, GROUP and USER

At USER level, many of the drafting options are locked for us. I am trying to change the Vase View Label setting to OFF.

IT department went into the SITE and GROUP level and set it to OFF. It is still ON for us users.

They went into the GROUP level and unlocked the settings. They are still locked. We still cant get into them at the USER level.

Anyone have any ideas why we cant seem to change this setting to OFF?

Check your log file to see where the user level settings are being read from, make sure you have write permission in that location.

Good point there Cowski.
In the NX logfile,
this section is what to look for :
( this is from my NX learning edition copy, the addresses etc will probably look slightly different for you )
"
No user customizations read from UGII_PACKAGE_DIR - startup directory C:\siemens\1926_student_ed\ugii\startup not found
No user customizations read from UGII_GROUP_DIR - environment variable is not set
No user customizations read from UGII_USER_DIR - environment variable is not set
Processing customer default values file D:\siemens\tomas_site\startup\nx learning edition_site.dpv
Processing customer default values file C:\Users\Tomas\AppData\Local\Siemens\NX Learning Edition1926\NX Learning Edition_user.dpv
"

I.e search for "UGII_USER_DIR" , UGII_GROUP_DIR", "UGII_SITE_DIR" .

If these are set, you will have multiple hits in the logfile but the section shown above should be the interesting one.

Tomas

So I found the files and in the group.dpv file I found, I changed a line from something in drafting being locked "Yes" to "No".

However I dont think that mattered because in Customer Defaults I found that I could go to group settings myself and unlock the Drafting Settings and when I tried to get out, it asked me to save the customer defaults (Save As). I kept the name the same but added my initials to the end.

The next time I opened NX, it kept my setting. When I looked at the Group.dpv file I had changed, I found it had saved that as well again. Inside the file if I opened it, I found the name of that Customer Default file with my initials on it.

I dont know if I am explaining this to where it makes sense. But in the end, I got the setting to save finally. Thanks. Without your advice pushing me in a direction, I dont know if I would have figured it out, even if I am not sure what I did. lol
