I don't think NX2 was ever certified to run on Vista, it may not even work on Vista or it may be more trouble than it is worth.
Why NX2? Why not the latest version?

you are right for the new version, but I could find NX2.and I really need that program whatever it is.i dont know how I am gonna find newer version,I mean NX which runs on vista.Do u have any idea?

I've got NX 2.0 (I've got all the latest versions from UG V16.0 thru NX 7.5) running on Windows 7 and it works fine. However, I never did an actual install of anything older than NX 5.0, but rather I just copied the files over from my Windows XP system since I used .bat files to start them anyway, so I didn't need for them to appear in the Windows 'Start' menu. This will work as long as you've installed at least one version of NX from scratch so that all of the system switches/variables are set.

i dont know how i am gonna do that.can you explain a little bit clearer, how i need to do that?or where can i find newer version NX program which runs on vista that properly?i need to install emergency. Thanks Mr.JohnRBaker

Did you purchase this program? Do you pay maintence? You would just go to Siemens website and download a newer version.

Versions (both 32- and 64-bit) NX 5.0, NX 6.0 and NX 7.0 have all been certified for Vista (both 32- and 64-bit) as well as it appears, Windows 7 (64-bit), although there appears to be some confusion over NX 5.0 and Windows 7 as one document includes all 3 versions while another only shows NX 6.0 and NX 7.0.

Hi John,
As per your quotes
"I never did an actual install of anything older than NX 5.0, but rather I just copied the files over from my Windows XP system since I used .bat files to start them anyway".
I never thought about this, could you please attach a copy of the sample batch file to run NX using your procedure(without installing). Thanks.

NX 5.0.6

Attached is a 'sample' .bat file which if you edit the paths to where NX is installed (read the notes in the file), it will launch NX if the file is executed.

What I did was place this file in an easy to find folder and then select it, press MB3 and select the copy option and then I go to my desktop and paste a shortcut to the .bat file. Now select the shortcut, press MB3, select 'Properties' and here you can set certain behavior options including such things as setting the 'Run' to 'Minimized' or even adding a short-cut key. You can also edit the appearance of the shortcut by adding a user defined Icon or do whatever you wish. Now when you want to start NX you just go to your desktop and double-click the shortcut item.

Note that you can also place in this file any environment variables you would like to activate when launching NX.

Anyway, that should get you started. Note that I have on my desktop a shortcut to the bat files of each version of NX that I have installed on my system.

Jetstream, where did you purchase NX2 from?

when I was a student in university, i have been a company, they were using ugnx2,i got from them.i need to get one of new versions, but it should be expensive though?

OK, a couple of things come to mind.
1) You won't have a valid license file to enable you to run NX2, unless you still have access to the company's license server.
2) You need to install NX2 logged in as an administrator on the computer you are installing it on.
3) What are the specs of the computer you are installing it on?

On a bad note: If you no longer work for the company that gave you the copy of NX2, then it is illegal for you to run it.

A good note: NX6 is now available as a Student Edition. Less than US$300, I believe.
