We are currently testing NX4 and are experiencing a really bad crash. (UG closing fatal error)

To reproduce - start a new file, enter modeling, select Insert - design feature - Thread, UG crashes.

Anyone have the same problem. (32bit xp - NX4.0.2.2 MP3)

We currently have a PR in with UGS critical 1

It appears that when you posted this over on the BBS that no one has been able to reproduce your problem. I suggest that you try reinstalling NX 4 from scratch and see if this corrects the problem. Or else wait until NX 4.0.3.3

Doesn't a thread have to be applied against another existing feature? How do you create a feature as the first feature in a part?

If you do releoad NX4, try the problem sequence with the OOTB settings, no company customizations or settings.

I had the same thought as Ben as to how to apply a thread when there are no features to apply it to. I figured that the op had it narrowed down to that one operation, and tried it on a new part. NX will allow you to call up the thread design detail operation in an empty part, there just isn't anywhere to go with it.

Thanks for your comments everyone.

You are on the right track pointing to the customer defaults Ben! Good thinking.

UGS has contacted us about a corrupt customer default file
created when importing customer defaults from NX2 to NX4.

We have removed our current default file and solved the problem. I big thanks to the GTAC support team.
