NX5, Wave linked points, associative points and charts

Currently using NX5.0. I have a file that contains just weld points in an assembly. I then wave linked those points into a drawing and created associative points (maybe a step that is not needed) to the wave linked points.

What I am wondering is if I can get the X,Y,Z coordinates of those points and put in a chart automatically. So if the points in the weld file/associative points move, it will update the coordinates in the chart as well. I am trying to avoid doing it long hand (cutting/pasting from the information window, writing down and then retyping into the spreadsheet, etc).

So far the closet I have come is <X0.2@p90__x> in the cell for the X, <X0.2@p91__y> for Y, and <X0.2@p92__z> for Z (Seems to only work on associative points that are not associated to the wave linked points).

Anyone know a solution to this? Hopefully I am clear on this.

Thank you kindly.

Why are you even WAVE linking anything? Just make your drawing of the ORIGINAL POINTS.

As for linking the notes to the X,Y,Z coordinates (via the expressions) of the ORIGINAL POINTS, this should work. If the process it too tedious an NX Open application could be created which would read the expressions in the file with the ORIGINAL POINTS and then create the notes in the Drawing file.

Thank you John for the reply.

As for the linking of the points, I have a B-Pillar assembly. I added the weld point part file for reference, more or less. The weld point chart is on the assembly drawing only. So my thought would be, if the points in the weld file moved it would move them in the drawing file and update the chart.

I think I may just add individual expressions for each point (37 total) and create associate points that way.

I can't program at all, so I am not certain what to do for the NX Open application.

Thank you again.

Unfortunately, if the points are IN the Drawing part file, their X,Y,Z coordinates will be relative to the Drawing 'space' and not that of the original part file.

Have you tried the "Point" option in Excel? It populates 3 cells at once and I think that the spreadsheet can be used as a tabular note.
