I have a parasolid body that I want to step along a linear path, so that I can observe it at it passes thru a hole in another body.

Stepping along a path, using a body like this, would have been easy using "transform", just specify the direction and distance, and press "apply" after every move and watch it go.
This is a major pain to do using the "move" command, because after every move (or step) EVERYTHING has to be refspecified.

When using the "move" command is there a way to retain everything that it previously used?

What am I missing here?

After selecting the body and the vector for the 'linear path', why not just grab the Yellow 'Distance' arrow and drag it so that you can watch the 'preview' as it "passes thru the hole in the other body"?

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Try the "Instance Geometry" - Translate, set the vector, use the preview and try some different number of copies.
