I have a shaft in a drawing view of sectioned assembly that I want to be shown as solid (not sectioned).

How do I get that shaft to be shown as not be sectioned?

If you wish to have certain parts that are NEVER sectioned when they are seen on a drawing, you can add a Part Attribute to the original detail model file titled 'SECTION-COMPONENT' and give it a value of 'no'. That way this part file will automatically be 'skipped' when creating a section view in which this component is included.

What I've done is add this Part Attribute, except with a value of 'yes', to my standard part modeling master template file. That way later, if I ever decide that a part is never to be sectioned, all I have to do is edit the Part Attribute value, changing it from 'yes' to 'no', and I'm all set. BTW, this is how we have already 'flagged' all of the fasteners in the Machinery Library, since virtually all international drafting standards require that fasteners are not shown as sectioned in drawing views.

It is actually a bit of a toss up as to whether to add that attribute permanently in part families for fasteners, because it is almost universally the case that you don't want them sectioned.
