nx7.5 custom symbols 2

I have a large number of custom symbols we have been using for years in nx, nx2, nx3, and nx5, can anyone please tell me how to make these existing symbols work in nx 7.5?

OK, what you need to do is go to where you have installed NX and look in the following folder...

XXX\UGII\symbols\install_tool

...where you will find a document titled:

User_Guide_for_Custom_Symbol_Library_Installation_Tool_v2.1.doc

...which will outline the procedure for migrating your pre-NX 7.5 custom symbols into the NX 7.5 Reuse Library as well how to install any of the system supplied libraries, if that is also what you would like to do. Note that this document covers both Teamcenter and native implementations of NX.

John, thanks for the reply. I have done this twice now but I still can't see symbols in the reuse library, any other ideas or should I call GTAC?

If you've followed the procedures in the document and are still having issues, there's not much more that I can offer, so yes, I'd contact GTAC.

This is not documented in User_Guide_for_Custom_Symbol_Library_Installation_Tool_v2.1.doc
Goto File->Utilities->Customer Defaults
then goto Gateway->Reuse Library section
then on right hand side, in the "Symbol Library" tab enter a text line similar to:
Symbol Library|$UGII_BASE_DIR/Symbol Library/CustomSymbols

Since I had installed the symbol library in C:\UGS\NX7.5\Symbol Library\CustomSymbols I have entered the above path. Note that the path contains Unix styled Forward Slash (/) and not \.

Thanks for the great info, but I have totally failed in making this work. I finally figured out how to make a new symbol in 7.5 so I have what I want for now. GTAC was not much help on this subject. I am a little freaked out by the unix style path command and the lack of being able to browse to the correct directory. The old way for symbols worked great for us for years but I know that everything must change. I just wish I could find some documentation that would show me how to use this reuse library better than just trial and error on my part. Thanks again for trying to help.
