NX7 - model manipulation settings 1

Hello, does anyone know how to set NX7 to handle model (Zoom, Pan, Rotate) by mouse and holding F1-F3 keys? Saw this at few computers in school, but not at others and i am used to it.

You can do all of that with just the mouse (by default).

MMB = middle mouse button
LMB = left mouse button
RMB = right mouse button

To rotate, hold MMB and drag.
To zoom, hold LMB + MMB and drag.
To pan, hold RMB + MMB and drag.

I would encourage you to try these out as it will work on all NX workstations by default. I'm sure you could customize your settings to get what you describe, but F1 has become the universal 'help' button and remapping that may lead to frustration for you when you are not on your workstation or frustration for others who are on yours.

Also, if you want to rotate about a specfic point, hover over the point (doesn't have to be a literal "point") with the MMB depressed until a small cross-hair appears. You can then move the mouse and rotate the model about that point.

As cowski has already pointed out, we've already implemented full 3D mouse dynamics as the recommended out-of-the-box approach. However, that being said, since you're now running NX, you might as well go all the way and purchase a Spaceball. It'll be the best money you ever spent:

Just add the variable to your profile.

The easiest way to do that is to select the Windows 'Start' button and when the list of applications come up place your cursor over 'My Computer', press MB3, select Properties, select the Advanced tab, then select the Environment Variables button and now you can add variables to either your profile or the system's.

If this is a shared workstation and others may not want to see this behavior, than just add the variable in the upper, or 'User Variables', area. However if you're the only user or if everyone will want this behavior, then add it to the lower or 'System Variables' area.
