Hi all,

is there a possibility in NX to set the section-cap-color as a default to "body color" instead of "specify color"? I did not found any setting in the customer defaults or in preferences.

In the customer defaults it can be found at Gateway -> View operations -> View sectioning -> Cap display.
However, it is a part setting, as opposed to a session setting, so changing the value here will not help with existing parts/sections.

Usually you would go to the Preferences menu to change the session setting, but in Preferences -> View sectioning, there is no option for the cap display...

Dialog memory may help here. Once you create a section with your desired option, press OK or Apply, the next new section should use the same values as the previous one.

Hi cowski,

the solution with the dialog memory doesn't work. The section-function doesn't remember the state of the cap-color-setting for other parts, only for the work part.
The setting in the customer default would be OK, if it works with seedparts in Teamcenter. What happens, if I change the customer default, reopen the seedpart, create a small volume, then section it with cap-color to body-color, apply and OK, then deleting the section and the volume inside the seedpart and save it?

The 'Color Option' in the 'Cap Settings' section of the View Section dialog is NOT saved in Dialog Memory but rather is part-specific and thus the status of the settings are saved with the Part file itself. And yes, that means that it's saved in the 'Work Part' since that is what gets saved after you make any changes to the 'Cap Settings'. Note that I've tested this with NX 8.0 and it works as I've described, which is how most all options, which are considered 'Part Specific' as seen in Customer Defaults, are designed to work. It's the 'Session Specific' items which are more likely to also have a corresponding 'Preference' that can be changed during an NX session.
