Hi,

I was working on Siemens NX 8 and encounter with a problem. Previously i am on Solidworks.

I was wondering if anyone here can point me on how to Wrap a curve onto a cylinder and then emboss/extrude cut it.

Solidworks has a wrap function with build in emboss. Below is a video link on Solidworks wrap function.

Can anyone point me on how this is going to work on Siemens NX 8?

Thanks

The method suggested by eex23 is a mixture of synchronous modelling and parametric. I was wondering if i use expression to update my part, will the synchronous "offset region" command update itself?

This is how I would approach this model using NX 8.0 (see attached part file). Some of the steps in the workflow are similar to what you saw in the video while some are perhaps unique to NX.

Guys,

I faced some problem regarding the divide face feature.

I was unable to divide faces of the wrap sketches on the cylindrical surface.

I need to emboss the sketches after the divide face operation.

Attached is the file.

Note the 2 curves that was unable to emboss. Please help to solve this embossing problem.

Thanks in advanced.

OK, I tightened the tolerance on the Wrap Curve feature (changing Distance Tolerance from 0.0254 to 0.00254) and now it works, as seen in my attached file.
