Hi,
NX8 has the status bar on top and NX9 on bottom.
My eyes look on the top of the toolbar/screen.
Exit a setting to put the status bar on the top like NX8.

Thank you...

Looks like the default position has changed between the releases.

To change:
- Go to Customize (RMB in any border area and choose Customize)
- Select the Layout tab
- Choose Top for Cue/Status Line Position
- Close the dialog

As with previous versions this probably can be arranged through Tools - Customize - TAB layout.

There you might find the cue/status position option.

Hello,

I found this setting. Where is it stored? I can not find it in the customer defaults
and I cannot find it in the user.mtx file?
This bcause I am preparing a setup for my students next year.
We are going from version 7.5 to 9.0 and I don't want to scare the senior
students too much, that why I probably choose for the classic menu.
I can set this in the Preferences User Interface Layout tab,
But here I have same question where is this stored.
In the customer defaults I can set it to Ribbon or Classic
or User Defined (Gateway User interface Layout tab User interface environment).
I want the latter, I want to have the flexibility
to switch to ribbon environment. But I want it defaulted to classic.

Regards,

Olaf

You're correct, it's not saved in the .mtx file. While I'll have to verify this with someone who actually knows, I suspect that this is saved in the Windows 'registry'.

As for your plans to set the 'classic' UI as the default, please keep in mind that NX 11.0 will be the LAST release where there will even be an option.

I have confirmed that indeed the setting for the location of the Que/Status bar is saved in the Windows Registry.

Que/Status bar is for communication. It is a very bad if you put it at the bottom.

Hello Icetea,

Thanks!

@ John

Thanks for this information, we would go to the new interface, but as an educational institute we heavily
relied on CAST. This was one of the reasons to switch to NX. With the NX9 classic interface we can still use
the CAST of NX85. The new internet based training is to expensive and work intensive for us.

Maybe in the next years before we switch again Siemens will treat the educational institutes better with the new internet based learning.

Olaf

Olaf,

Have you been in contact with our academic people in St. Louis? My understanding is that they're offering a significant discount for the 'Learning Advantage' software for educational institutes.

For whom? I value the option of putting where it is best for the user, and for this user that happens to be at the bottom of the screen. This is also where I have my Windows Task Bar located, so, for me, it is easier to have both tools of communicaion in the same area.
