ob-round dished cover with bolting flange. How to calculate?

Dear all,

I would really appreciate a help on the following matter.

I have to calculate (ASME code) an ob-round dished cover with bolting flange.
Please see attached drawing.

The thing is that I think this type of cover inst listed on ASME VIII Div.I

Any help?

Is it acceptable if i calculate this cover by FEA?

UserAK, as no explicit rules exist under Sec VIII, Div 1, the design would fall under U-2(g).

U-2(g) may be satisfied by any means that can be shown to be applicable to pressure vessels and produce designs that are generally as safe as those produced by Sec VIII, Div 1 rules.

FEA is perhaps one way, modifying existing Code rules is another, as is some other suitable design method.

Question is, what are you comfortable with, what is your client (if any) comfortable with, what is your AI comfortable with?

One dumb question ... where is the U-2(g)? I cant find it in the code Sec VIII, div.1.
