Hi,
I am using NX2 and I found the object count in different layers are more in numbers than the actual count.

For example, in one layers there is only one solid body part and if I check count in that layer, it shows 5.I tried part clean-up, but still it shows in layer.Any suggestions to clean-up these.

Thanks

I just verified the situation on my computer. One block on layer 1, one block on layer 2, work layer is layer 3. Unite with layer 1 block as target solid, layer 2 block as tool solid. The part navigator shows two items on layer 1, one item on layer two.
The resulting solid will always be on the layer of the target body, but the tool solids remain on their initial layers.

Now look at Object Count in the layer dialog box....not the same, is it? Part navigator shows layer of creation, not layer of existence.

Tim,

We posted at the same time. I was referring to the post by san-j.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

ewh,

I'm not getting the same results in the Part Navigator nor Layer Dialog box in NX2.

Created a solid block on layer 1 then a sphere on layer 2, made layer 3 the work layer & united the two bodies (block target, sphere tool). The resulting solid resides on layer 1.

Maybe there is a modeling preference or customer default that is determining these results.

Ben,

Thank you for clarifying; not that I have a problem with someone demonstrating I am wrong or anything. If I'm wrong, I wish to find out what is right. Passing along accurate information means alot to me.

Tim,
You are right again. I was only looking at the part navigator, not the layer dialog.

ewh,

Didn't mean to come off as some sort of know it all, like I probably sounded in my previous post. Was only concerned that I might be the one misinforming other.

I think the idea that might need to be understood is that in the Part Navigator, you will see Feature or Part related information regarding layers (where created or what layer "owns" the feature or body) versus actual entity layer information, which is relayed to the user via the Layer Dialog.

Tim,
You don't come off sounding like a know it all. On the contrary, you have valuable experience to share with us, and have helped me out several times.
