Obround Openings

I recently got back into engineering after four years of teaching math.
Less than three days on the job I was given a horizontal pressure vessel that has two obround openings for firetubes in one of the heads.
Can someone give me some suggestions on how to tackle this problem?

You might want to take a look at the code references mentioned in fabrication of hand holes. This doesn't take into account any reinforcement needed.

as the reinforcement calculation in a head is independent of orientation (unlike in cylinders) you can treat those openings as round with a diameter equal to the maximum width of the obround opening.
