Hello all,

Is there anyway I can model two components in Solidworks, position them and determine the contact area between them? I that the contact area will depend on the load between the components, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts/experience with this?

Thanks.

I have never had to do this. I can try tomorrow.
The first thing that comes to mind is to save the assy as a part, then use the combine feature and substract leaving the surface? Then use measure command for surface area.

Besides using Interference Detection in an Assembly, I can't think of anything. You will probably have to model your components in the deformed, loaded state. You might be able to create a split line on the contact surface and apply your load in Simulation to get an accurate deformation value.
