Hi All,
I would like to capture OEE for a forming machine/process, yet since this subject is new to me, require some reassurance on the simple calculations..
I'm unsure of performance and availability classification, since the process varies cycle to cycle, requiring extended periods of heating and cleaning in-between..
Typical production based on 8hrs/480 mins are as follows:
14 Parts Produced
Total of 4hrs/240mins Heating Time
Total of 20mins Cleaning Time
Since Cleaning and Heating is part of the process, should my cycle time have that incorporated, thus not impacting > 50% availability?
But once the tool is clean and at enough Temperature forming time can be as quick as 15mins, between parts...
Basing it on a run rate of 15mins/part, 100% percent Quality and classifying heating and cleaning as downtime, results in 41.2% OEE.. Would this be the typical industry calculated approach? Or should a partial allowance of heating and cleaning time be incorporated into the cycle time, and excess impact availability?
Thank you,
Rob
