Hi all,

We have a situation of low pipeline pressure and our main export pumps are struggling to cope.

We have pumps upstream to the export pumps which will be able to cope with the reduced pipeline pressure but the only flow path is through the main export pumps.

Obviously not wanting to damage the main pumps, would it be ok to flow through them whilst they are offline?

Thanks,

A

Probably OK, but ... you'll more than likely lose a lot of head in the process and gaining nothing for the wear on the pumps that it's costing you. If this is going to happen often, of course installing a bypass could be your best option.

We will design everything from now on using only S.I. units ... except for the pipe diameter. Unk. British engineer
