Dear all,
Currently I'm working as inspector on the following pressure vessel:
Pressure vessel designed acc. to ASME VIII Div.2 2017 Cl.2, material SA 533 Type C Cl.2.
This vessel has a shell and an ellipsoidal head 2:1.
+Shell: I.D. 3670mm Nom.Thk. 42mm
+Head: I.D. 3658mm Nom.Thk. 38mm
From my calculations I find the following:
CL offset: 8mm ; OD Misalignment: 10mm ; ID Misalignment: 6mm
According to ASME VIII Div.2 2017 Par.6.6.5.4 "Joint alignment", is not clear to me the definition of Joint alignment in this case. Have I to use CL offset as reference or have I to apply the same tolerance for CL, OD Misalignment and ID Misalignment? Should Table 6.4 be applicable only for OD Misalignment and ID Misalignment?
I think that ASME VIII Div.1 it's more understandable in this case.
Regards
Theo
