Dear All,
We have an offshore project of structural repair works in which we have to strengthen the piles using steel plates welded to the tubular steel piles. The tubular steel piles are used to support the composite deck system and the whole structure is entirely in offshore location (about 50m from port). The piles are getting corroded due to sea water and now the client wants to protect and strengthen the piles using steel plates and then later to be coated with PU coating works.
I was reading some online documents in which they've mentioned that the piles (steel) can also be strengthened using FRP material and its easier to apply, more durable and even at times lesser in cost. Moreover corrosion problem can be easily avoided increasing the life of the structure.
If somebody has any info regarding FRP over "offshore steel tubular piles", then kindly share as I want to submit a really competitive proposal.
I have also attached herewith strengthening scheme proposed by the client.
Regards
