Dear All,

I am going to write a book with the title "Oil and Gas Abbreviations and Acronyms" (not a dictionary). So, I am gathering all of the necessary references to make this book more useful for engineers and especially newcomers in this field. I will be highly appreciative if you send me any references and/or introduce some references to me.

I will be highly appreciative in advance.

Best Regards

Dear 1503-44,

Many thanks for your link.

As I mentioned, I am not going to make a dictionary and/or glossary, I am just going to make a list of abbreviations. I am not going to make a better wheel because I am sure that a lot of engineers around the world for sure made it many times. I just do my best. just that.

Regards

Welcome.
A lot of wheels need more work. :)

One like seems to have 50,000 entries, so you're going to be busy for awhile.
Good luck.

Einstein gave the same test to students every year. When asked why he would do something like that, "Because the answers had changed."

Production or refining. Two different worlds. In a refinery stainless steel means 304, in production it means 13 Chrome. In a refinery 4130 is unweldable , in production ,it needs a high preheat.

Oil & Gas usually doesn't mean refining. Yes different, gasoline is not gas, until it is. Oil is Oil, until its something else. Is gas-liquid extraction refining? Is refining not making gas from liquids? But still there are similarities. Columns are columns, flares are flares. Exceptions don't prove the rule. All of which makes his project of defining them that much more necessary.
