Hello, I am looking for an inline oil in water analyzer for an effluent stream to alarm on possible spill conditions. Typical oil content is 500-2000 ppm. I have received some information from Analytical Systems Keco for a continuous type of analyzer, and it looks promising. Does anyone have experience with other types of technology, such as UV fluorescence? We want a continuous analyzer that does not have any sample time delay.

Thank you.

Oil in water analyzers tend to be problematic for multiple reasons. There are minor interferences such as oil adhering to plastic tubing to ongoing maintenance issues on the analyzers. After installation, many plants just mothball these devices.

The oil and gas industry is also riddled with problems on these analysers - biofouling of these analysers, wax and other chemicals in the water all contribute. If you must install one by legislation, then you have to be clear whether you are required to measure dissolved oil, free oil or total oil.
