Oil turbine classification 1

Hello, just curious about something.

Our turbine lubricating oil is ISO: L-TSA32 turbine oil.

What that L-TSA mean? Is it same as ISO VG 32?

L-TSA means oil for "Steam turbines, directly coupled or geared to the load" of the type "R&O inhibited mineral oil"

That is a rather basic spec for a mineral oil for use in steamturbines where the oil is not exposed to higher temperatures and additional anti-oxidants are not required. 32 refers to the viscosity - the product meets ISO VG32, 32 cSt at 40 deg C +/- 10%.

In ISO-6743 there are also various other types of turbine oil described - this particular type is the most basic turbine lubricant.

L means Lubricant, T Turbine, S Steam and A is the first type defined. Others types are B, C, D, E.
