I encountered a problem with an older (approx 30 years) Siemens –Allis 5 kV contractor which connects a small induction generator (600 kVA) to the 5 kV (4160 V) network. The contactor does not hold well, occasionally “pumps” and was declared by a local service company which used to maintain the switchgear as non-reparable.

It is 81H3 series, rated 360 Amp, lathing type and with a 3000 VA CPT. We are attempting to locate a replacement including used or reconditioned units, but so far no luck – a couple of web sources indicated that they would have similar but not identical unit - specifically they do not have a latching type one.

Does anyone know of a good source for replacement parts, or good rehab shops, or resellers of used equipment who might carry this equipment? Preferably in Canada, but USA is OK too. Thank you.

Thank you DanDel! The place looks promising.

Do you happen to be on the west coast? I am aware of a 5kV siemens/allis lineup just removed from service in the Pacific Northwest. It might actually be older than what you seek; would have to get more information to verify compatablity

BCS Switchgear
Circuit Breaker Sales

Google 'em.

I've used both for replacement parts and assemblies.
