Older building complaints of hot kitchen

Hi, first post here been searching through and finding lots of great info!

I have an older building where the residents are complaining of the kitchen area being excessively
Hot when cooking. The exhaust fan is extremely old and are being swapped out but even then it is still not helping that much more. Now obviously the exhaust is limited to fresh air being replaced. There is no duct/vent to the kitchen from fan coil and am wondering if short of major changes would a transfer fan from
The main area into the kitchen help with circulating the cooler air? Or ?

The Kitchen is generally supposed to be negative compared to the surrounding areas so I am assuming you are already drawing some air from the main area.

Is this a commercial kitchen with exhaust hoods ?

How else are you making up the Kitchen exhaust. Are you dumping untempered air directly into the Kitchen from a Make-up air Unit ?

I have typically provided mechanical cooling in the Kitchens I have designed using fan coils units if there is chilled water available.

Usually if there are kitchen hoods present most of the heat is contained in the hoods.

Residential. No hood the building is designed with an exhaust fan in the ceiling near the range
About 5th up 1 foot back so pretty much above your head when standing at the stove. Make up is building system.

Are these people complaining about a single kitchen or their own individual kitchens? Are the appliances original, or have they been upgraded?

Are the hoods actually functional; I've seen lots of hoods that exhaust back into the room, i.e., they don't actually exhaust to the outside.

Some sort of circulation fan from another room's air would probably help quite a bit.

I had to deal with a similiar problem a few years on a 40 man mining camp. At 40 degrees C ambient temperature, conditions in the kitchen were close to intolerable .(zero air conditioning available). I solved the problem by installing the circulating fan from a scrap heating furnace to exhaust air from the general area, directly above the cooling coils from the refridgerator. Didnt do any airflow balancing, just relied on the fan to pull air from the lowest resistant source. Improvement was dramatic and appreciated by all cocerned.

Hire a mechanical Engineer who is familiar with these problems.

I could use some of that heat right now in MA.
Kitchen hoods are not really designed to remove heat, just fumes and odors. Clean the ducts as these are probably partially clogged up with residue.
