I was saddened to read that Omer Blodgett passed on January 11, 2017, at the age of 99.

A long and fulfilling life, indeed. RIP.

I recall getting a bunch of engineers together back in the late 80's at the office I worked in Sydney, Australia to group/bulk purchase copies and save on shipping rates from the US.

And the James F. Lincoln Foundation still sells copies at $25.00 today! Link. All 832 pages are a great resource, with unbelievable value.

The world is diminished and he'll not be forgotten.

I too really appreciate his contribution to the engineering field.....in many ways he was the engine that drove the Lincoln Electric Co.....young engineers would profit greatly by studying and using the many books he produced that are still useful and available...may he rest in peace....

I have to admit: I didn't even know he was still alive. His books were among the best I have on the shelf. RIP.

Ingenuity,

I just went to purchase the text... Shipping was 4 times the price of the book!?!

Trenno,

I feel your pain. Hence, why 25 years ago our office did a group order to AU.

If you contact Debbie (McKeever) at the James F Lincoln Book Department via email she will work with you on other shipping options. For example, she may be able to do a media rate, which is super slow (used to be slow ship) but beats UPS or FedEx for international shipping.

I live in Hawaii and have purchased several of the Foundations books over the years and I always ask Debbie to change UPS Ground to USPS (US mail) as it is cheaper and quicker for me.

Still, even overpaying on the shipping, the text is a great one to have in your library.

Enjoy.

I had the pleasure of meeting with him on several occasions. It was always an interesting chat. He will be missed.

Best regards - Al
