On-site Hydrogen storage for an Hydrogenation plant

Hi all,

I'm working in a project to install a hydrogenation reactor. This reactor will need hydrogen supply on regular basis. We are thinking to have hydrogen (gas) stored somewhere in the plant (cylinder banks or tube trailers), periodically delivered by tracks. we have identified some NFPA ( 2, 50A, and 55)codes that deals with hydrogen.

My question are: 1- What does NFPA 50A mean by "Consumer Sites"?
2- What is the relationship between NFPA 2 and NFPA 55? Which one actually applies to this
particular situation?

NFPA 50A, Standard for Gaseous Hydrogen Systems at Consumer Sites
That would be the location where the tube trucks are delivered to for unloading.

Depending on how much you use and where you are located you can also buy liquid hydrogen stored in cryo tanks.
It is also good to consult with your insurance company as well as any local building authority.
There are rules about distance from buildings and protective bunkers/walls/barriers.
