Hi again,
I am using Autocad 2000 on a WinXP machine, and would like to know if you can make viewports opaque. The example is a full page viewport with topographic information - contours, features etc - and a series of text boxes in paperspace identifying points of interest. I would like the text box to effectively clip out the underlying topo info, but not in modelspace, as this info appears in several other paperspaces. I
I vaguely remember something in R14 about setting which vport was on top etc, but cannot seem to find the equivalent in 2000.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
cheers,
GAllen

Hi GAllen,

why do You want to write the text in the paperspace? Write the words on an own layer in mspace and toggle the layer in the viewports on/off. Draw a solid to mask the text and hide the other objects (or use “text mask” from Express Tools V1-9)

I think, there is no way for opaque viewports, only clipping (“vpclip”).
I hope for better ideas…, Lothar

Hi,
it’s me again...I try to solve the problem.
You can write in the PS and use solids (with “draworder") or text-mask. But You will get a misrepresentation on the screen. BUT (that was new for me too) in the plot-preview everything will be perfect.
