I am currently working on the design of an open arch canopy system, and there is not much guidance for this type of roof system. Does anyone have any references or know if ASCE has any additional design examples available? I am having a hard time finding any information.
In order to work around this, I have a couple of approaches in mind.
1. Utilize Figure 27.4-5, and break the arch into segments at 7.5 deg, 15 deg, 22.5 deg, 30 deg, 37.5 deg, 45 deg, and step the pressure coefficients. Not too thrilled with this approach as I do not think it will accurately model the vortex of a dome shape.
2. Utilize figure 27.4-3 for arched roof (Enclosed, Partially Enclosed),and determine the imaginary wall pressures on the windward and leeward face. Then combined the wall pressures with the roof pressures and treat it as one big overhang.
I really appreciate any input and guidance.
Thanks in advance!
