Im trying to mold open cell sponge rubber without a skin any advise

Not usually a single step process, depending on how "open" your desired structure is. See

To be a bit more specific, I don't think you can mold a foam without a skin. Usually, fully open-cell foam must have the skin skived away from the molded block, using a knife or bandsaw. As shown in the wiki link, reticulation of a foam involves a few more steps.
