Openings in structural concrete walls

Hello guys,
My issue is that I am doing a project which contains lots of MEP openings in walls, the project is structurally critical as well .. I know that in ACI code there are some restrictions and guide lines for openings in walls, however what I want to know is how much I can allow with this topic (beyond the code if possible based on experience .. ?).
Does anyone knows a book that I can refer to regarding this issue ?

Concrete shear walls or just concrete bearing walls? The first problem is considerably more difficult than the last. Either way, you can have any manner of opening that you like so long as you can make the numbers work. The best tool for assessing whether or not the numbers work is usually the strut and tie method in my opinion.

There really isn't much out there in the literature. This is the best document that I know of and it only gives a cursory overview: Link. An excerpt is shown below.

If you Google "Concrete Wall Opening Strut Tie" you'll find all kinds of examples for bearing walls.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
