SIR,
WE HAVE A DISTANCE RELAY OF ABB MAKE AND RAZFE TYPE IN A 220KV FEEDER. THIS RELAY OPERATED ON TWO OCCASIONS FOR FAULTS WHICH ARE VERY CLOSE BUT ON THE BUS SIDE. WHEN CHECKED THE RELAY, EVERYTHING WAS FOUND OK. WE SUSPECT THAT THE OPERATIION MAY BE DUE TO THE OPERATING AREA IN THE GROUND FAULT CHARACTERESTIC IN THE FOURTH QUADRANT. PLEASE HELP WHAT ARE THE POSSIBITIES FOR SUCH MALOPERATIONS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MALOPERATIONS OCCUR RARELY.
