options for degassing water

Hello All
We have a medical device that requires degassed water to 3ppm.
We are able to circulate water though a filter at about 300ml a minute and degass the liter of water to 3ppm in around 5 to 10 minutes.

The current solution we have is working, it involves circulating water through a "fiber flow 30 filter" by marcor
We apply around -27 in"HG of vacuum to the filter during this time.
The issue is that these cost around $150 each and we use two per surgery which ultimately costs the patient.
At the end of the surgery, via FDA guidance, the filter gets thrown in the garbage although its almost impossible that there has been an exposure to anything.

We have spent considerable time looking at other vendors but have not had luck and would like another opinion.
Anyone have an idea on alternatives?

Degassing does not require the use of any filter. Spraying water into your vacuum chamber would be more effective. But, I suppose that your main concern is sterility of all the parts that contact the water. Basically you are paying for a pre-sterilized cartridge that allows you to degas pressurized water.

Another alternative is to boil the water. This will degas and sterilize it at the same time.

Interesting that you are using the Mar Cor filter. Does this application require FDA approval?

There are firms such as Liqui-Cel that make membrane degasification equipment. Don't know if they have FDA approval, but Liqui-Cel equipment is used in industrial applications.

The oxygen concentration can easily be achieved with a vacuum degasifier. However, the capital and operating costs will be much higher than for these cartridge filters.

You might try Liqui-Cel.

I guess we don't even need the marcor as we are not filtering, just degassing.

I am not aware of anyone else but I don't specialize in that area. Pall, Barnstead or Millipore probably have something similar.
